According to KURKUL online farmer assistant, the family farm Agro-Lux from the Chernihiv region has established a complete closed cycle of organic dairy production — from keeping cows and producing milk to processing and selling finished products.

The farm operates in the field of organic production and cultivates 124 hectares of land. The farm keeps a herd of cattle, which provides its own raw material base for milk production.

From selling milk to processing it yourself

Before the full-scale war began, the farm specialized mainly in supplying organic milk to processing enterprises. However, the farm later had to adapt its business model and establish its own milk processing facilities.

As a result, the company created a complete production cycle, which includes:

  • keeping cows;
  • organic milk production;
  • milk processing;
  • production of finished dairy products.

Assortment of organic dairy products

Currently, the farm’s certified product range includes organic butter.

At the same time, the farm also produces other dairy products, including:

  • cream;
  • sour cream;
  • yogurts;
  • ryazhenka;
  • soft cheeses.

In the future, farmers plan to extend organic certification to these types of dairy products, which will increase sales volumes.

Energy independence of the farm

An important step in the development of processing and the implementation of strategic plans was ensuring the energy independence of the economy.

As part of the Swiss-supported Organic Sector Grant Program, the Agro-Lux farm purchased a generator that ensures uninterrupted operation of the processing plant during planned or emergency power outages.

In addition, within the framework of grant support:

  • organic product labeling was developed;
  • purchased containers for packaging dairy products.

Development plans

The implementation of the grant project ensured stable milk processing even in the face of energy risks and laid the foundation for further development.

In the future, FG Agro-Lux plans to expand its range of organic dairy products and increase sales volumes.
