The conference “Dairy Sector: Ukraine – EU”

On June 3, the conference “Dairy Sector: Ukraine – EU” took place in Kyiv, bringing together more than 100 industry stakeholders — policymakers, producers, processors, international experts, and diplomats — to discuss the integration of Ukraine’s dairy sector into the EU market.

The event, organized by the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine and the analytical agency Infagro, was supported by the Swiss-Ukrainian programme “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sectors in Ukraine” and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

We’re happy to have opening remarks delivered by Minister Vitalii Koval, Deputy Oksans Osmachko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee Oleksandr Haidu, Alexander Anton from European Dairy Association and Carolien Spaans from Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The Business and specialists took the opportunity to see updates on The Roadmap for EUIntegration provided by EU Integration Committee of Ukrainian Dairy with presentations and moderations of Marc Gramberger, Arsen Didur, Hanna Lavreniuk, Elisabeth Svyatkivska, Iryna Vysotska, Maks Fasteyev, as well to join micro workshops via speeches and slides of great experts: CNIEL (thank to Jean Lanotte), Kinga Adamaszwili from EDA, Anatoliy Gamza from the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of Ukraine, Oleksandr ZHEMOYDA, Artur Puławski, Vitaliy Bashynsky and business representatives.

Key takeaways:
✅ Strong commitment to aligning Ukraine’s dairy sector with EU standards.
✅ Productive dialogue between producers and processors to build transparent, long-term cooperation.
✅ Practical insights on harmonising Ukrainian regulations with EU directives — from labeling and trade terms to milk quality.
✅ Emphasis on maintaining balance between sector growth, processing capacity, and consumer demand.

Despite the challenges facing Ukraine, the dairy sector is demonstrating resilience and strategic vision on its path to the EU market.
