According to the Retail Association of Ukraine (RAU), food retail in 2025 maintained positive momentum in terms of store count, with market leaders expanding their networks through active openings.

The largest chain remains ATB, operating 1,319 stores. During the year, the retailer opened 67 new outlets and closed 10. Second place was taken by Klever Stores (Lutsk), which develops the Sim23 and Simi formats: the company added 133 stores and closed five, bringing the total to 443 locations. Third position is held by Fora (Fozzy Group) with 399 stores, reflecting 39 openings and three closures.

The Silpo chain (Fozzy Group) demonstrated moderate growth, operating 312 supermarkets (eight openings and seven closures). The top ten also includes Kolo (251 stores), Rukavychka (222), Faino Market (219), Kyivkhlib (211), and Thrash!Trash! (192). The latter opened 48 new outlets during the year without any closures.

In terms of expansion pace in 2025, Sim23 and Simi led the market (+41%), adding 133 locations. ATB ranked second by net growth with 67 new stores, exceeding its 2024 performance. Thrash!Trash! placed third in expansion dynamics (+48 stores).

Fora expanded by nearly 40 stores, maintaining active growth. Faino Market opened 26 new outlets and extended its geographic presence to 82 localities (+13 over the year). Kolo also ranked among the most dynamic chains, adding 18 new stores. The supermarket chain Torba opened 11 locations and currently operates 61 stores across various formats.

Separately, Novus, together with its Mi Market format, opened 46 stores and closed three. As of year-end, the network comprises 155 retail outlets.
