Ukrainian dairy producers in 2025 are facing constant challenges — from a surge of imported cheeses to the temporary closure of the EU market. A new threat has emerged: competition with Russian dairy products in the Asian market.

Russia is gradually pushing Ukraine out of the markets of the Caucasus and Central Asia — key destinations for Ukrainian dairy exports. Cheaper logistics, generous subsidies, and operations within the “ruble zone” give Russian exporters a significant advantage.

Ukrainian dairy companies are forced to fight for every ton of exports. While the domestic market is flooded with imports, and the EU market is temporarily closed due to quotas, eastern sales have become a matter of survival. The question remains: will Ukrainian companies have enough strength to retain these markets?
