Romanian DN AGRAR Group — the EU’s largest cow’s milk producer — has announced an investment plan for its sixth farm and two new composting facilities. As yumda.com reports, total investment amounts to €13.5 million.

The investment in the new CUT 2 farm amounts to approximately €12 million, financed via an ING Bank loan (80%) and equity (20%) at 1.5% plus 1-month EURIBOR. An additional €3.5 million is earmarked for two new composting units. Financing is subject to shareholder approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 10 July 2026.

“DN AGRAR continues to invest in the future of agriculture, and 2026 represents a pivotal investment year. The development of CUT 2 and two new composting facilities reflects our confidence in the long-term prospects of the sector and forms part of our 2025–2030 Development Strategy, which aims to double EBITDA by 2030. European milk production is expected to decline while Romania remains a net importer of dairy products — we aim to leverage this imbalance by expanding production capacity,” said CEO Peter de Boer.

CUT 2 farm: 5,000 cows, over 50 million litres per year

Located in Câlnic, Alba County, near the existing CUT 1 farm, CUT 2 will accommodate around 5,000 dairy cows and integrate two modern rotary milking systems plus robotic udder cleaning. Expected annual capacity: over 50 million litres of milk — supporting the group’s target of 150–200 million litres per year by 2030 across six high-efficiency farms, doubling the 2025 estimate.

Land was acquired in 2025; construction is scheduled for Q4 2026, with operations beginning in 2028 and full capacity reached by 2030 — bringing the total herd to approximately 30,000. DN AGRAR plans to cover up to 30% of the farm’s feed requirements through on-site wheatgrass production.

Composting: doubling capacity

Investment in two new composting units will double production capacity from 14,000 to 28,000 tonnes per year and increase voluntary carbon credit generation. DN AGRAR also plans to launch a dedicated compost brand and broaden market access to diversify revenues.
