According to the results of the latest Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction held as of 20 January 2026, the overall price index increased by +1.5% to USD 3,615 per tonne. This indicates a moderate recovery of prices on the global dairy market after the decline at the end of 2025.

Price dynamics by key dairy products

The increase in the index occurred against the background of positive price dynamics for most key categories:

  • Anhydrous milk fat (AMF)+3.0%, to $6,191/t
  • Butter +2.1%, to $5,314/t
  • Buttermilk powder (BMP)+5.1%, to $3,027/t
  • Whole milk powder (WMP)+1.0%, to $3,449/t
  • Skim milk powder (SMP)+2.2%, to $2,615/t

At the same time, one category showed a decline:

  • Cheddar cheese–1.4%, to $4,594/t

Overall assessment

The current GDT trading results point to a gradual improvement in sentiment on the global dairy market. The most notable growth was recorded in the segment of dried dairy products, which may be linked to renewed demand from importers and inventory adjustments.

Further price dynamics will largely depend on export activity of key producers, the milk supply situation in Oceania and the EU, as well as the overall state of the global economy.
