Ukraine has completed a large-scale update of the “Dairy Module” software used within the Raw Milk Control Program (RMCP). The modernization was carried out as part of the RMCP Roadmap for 2024–2026, taking into account current Ukrainian legislation and sectoral regulations.
During the update, particular attention was paid to strengthening system security and operational stability. The technical architecture was improved, the user interface was updated, and sampling and laboratory testing functionalities were aligned with current regulatory requirements. Administrative tools were expanded, along with reporting and automated notification features, including alerts in cases where inhibitors are detected in raw milk.
According to Serhii Zakharin, Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection responsible for digital development and digital transformation, the update of the “Dairy Module” is an important step toward improving the safety and quality of dairy products. The system provides clearer and more transparent control mechanisms and supports the gradual alignment of Ukrainian practices with those applied in the European Union.
The updated functionality ensures better traceability and reliability of state control over raw milk quality and establishes uniform rules for producers, processors, laboratories, and regulatory authorities. Updated user guidelines for the software are already available in open access.
Background.
The Raw Milk Control Program has been operating in Ukraine for seven years and is aimed at systematic monitoring of compliance by market operators with raw material quality and safety requirements. Within the program, laboratory testing is conducted for key indicators, including somatic cell count, bacterial contamination levels, freezing point, and antibiotic residues. All results are recorded in the “Dairy Module,” ensuring data recording, analysis, and traceability.
The RMCP is implemented with support from Switzerland within the Swiss-Ukrainian QFTP program, which focuses on developing trade with higher added value in Ukraine’s organic and dairy sectors.
