According to a source TASS, In 2025, retail sales of dairy products in russia grew by 26% in monetary terms, while physical sales volumes increased by only 3.3%. This is evidenced by data from a study prepared by SberAnalytics, the state labeling system “Honest Mark” and the inSales platform.
The increase in spending on dairy products significantly outpaced the actual increase in sales, which primarily indicates a rise in prices for dairy products.
Dairy desserts — growth leader
The largest revenue growth in 2025 was recorded in the dairy desserts segment. Sales in this category increased:
- by 38% in monetary terms,
- by 16.7% in terms of the number of packages purchased.
Other categories of dairy products also showed significant growth:
- fermented milk products — +36% in monetary terms and +8.4% in real terms;
- cheeses — +29.3% in revenue and +11.2% in sales volume;
- milkshakes — +26.6% in monetary terms;
- Cottage cheese — +26% in monetary terms and +6% in physical terms.
Analysts note that the growth in demand for dairy products is accompanied by an active increase in prices, which is why the financial indicators of the market are growing faster than real consumption.
Regions with the highest growth
The highest increase in spending on dairy products was observed in the following regions:
- republic of sakha (sakutia) — +51.8%;
- transbaikal region — +47.3%;
- moscow — +38.8%;
- ulyanovsk region — +38%;
- republic of altai — +36.7%.
In terms of physical sales volumes (liters and kilograms), the leaders were:
- transbaikal region — +24.4%;
- yakutia — +24%;
- moscow — +11.4%;
- sakhalin region — +11.3%;
- karachay-cherkessia — +9.8%.
Milk is purchased by all age groups
The study also showed that milk remains a universal product for different age groups of consumers.
The proportion of milk buyers by age is as follows:
- under 16 years old — 50.6%;
- 16–24 years old — 70.2%;
- 25–34 years old — 77.8%;
- 35–44 years old — 82.9%;
- 45–54 years old — 84%;
- 55–64 years old — 85.2%;
- 65+ years old — 86.1%.
Thus, milk and dairy products remain one of the basic food categories for most of the population, regardless of age.
