Dairy Farmers of America holds the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive year, while Lactalis USA vaults from No. 7 to No. 3 on the back of its General Mills yogurt acquisition, according to the annual Dairy Foods Top 100 ranking of the largest US dairy processors.
DFA leads for fourth straight year
Dairy Farmers of America retained the top position with $23.1 billion in 2025 revenues, up $100 million on the prior year.
Saputo Inc. remained at No. 2 with $13.975 billion.
Lactalis USA storms into the top three
Lactalis USA posted the ranking’s most dramatic climb, jumping from No. 7 to No. 3 in one year, with revenues of $11.387 billion. The driver was its acquisition of General Mills’ US yogurt business.
“The integration of General Mills’ yogurt activities in the United States — representing $1.2 billion in revenue, nearly 1,000 employees and two production sites — marked a strategic turning point. Brought together under the new Midwest Yogurt division, iconic brands such as Yoplait, GoGurt, Oui and :ratio joined Siggi’s and Stonyfield, enabling the group to become the third-largest player in the U.S. fresh dairy market,” the company stated in its annual report.
Magnum Ice Cream Co. debuts at No. 5
The Magnum Ice Cream Co. — parent of Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers, Talenti and Klondike — appears for the first time after being spun off from Unilever in December 2025, entering at No. 5 with $9.1 billion in global revenues.
“2025 was a year of significant operational progress in the U.S. Ben & Jerry’s and Yasso grew double-digit in e-commerce year over year,” said CEO Peter tel Kulve.
Other notable movers
Chobani rose another three slots to No. 19 with $3.8 billion, entering the top 20 for the first time.
Wells Enterprises (Ferrero Group) climbed four places to No. 29 with an estimated $1.8 billion.
Shamrock Foods jumped from No. 75 to No. 59 ($525m) and Fage USA from No. 76 to No. 61 ($502m).
Lifeway Foods, maker of kefir and fermented probiotic products, rose three spots to No. 83 with $212.5 million.
Continental Dairy Facilities fell from No. 56 to No. 70 ($422.8m).
Leadership changes were also noted: Maola Local Dairies (No. 38) named Jon Cowell CEO; Crystal Creamery (No. 55) appointed Tom Hughes; Stonyfield Organic (No. 65) chose Esteve Torrens; and Clover Sonoma (No. 78) added John Coletta as CEO.
