Ukrainian dairy producers are interested in restoring the export of dairy products, in particular milk powder, to Japan.
This was reported to BiznesCenzor by Arsen Didur, Executive Director of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (SMPU), following a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome, as well as delegates of the Japanese business mission headed by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, which took place on October 29, 2025.
Arsen Didur recalled that at one time Ukrainian companies supplied large volumes of milk powder to Japan. However, later these partnership relations came to nothing. Ukraine received renewed permission to export dairy products to Japan in March 2021. Nevertheless, the volume of supplies of Ukrainian products to this eastern country still remains low.
“In conditions of high turbulence and a collapse in global prices, Ukraine needs to rely on other markets for selling milk powder besides Europe. Japan could become one of such sales channels that should be restored. This move would be of interest to Ukrainian producers of milk powder. We expressed our interest during the meeting with Japanese business,” said the Executive Director of SMPU.
