30 September is the day the world pauses to remember how much a glass of milk matters for a child’s health, learning and future.
Tomorrow, 30 September, the world marks World School Milk Day — and the UAdairy.org team is glad to join the celebration.
The day was launched by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) back in 2000 and is marked every year on the last Wednesday of September, deliberately chosen because it’s a regular school day in most countries. Dozens of countries now take part, where school milk programmes give children far more than breakfast: focus in class, a lifelong health habit, and the quiet support of the adults who make that glass of milk possible every day.
Behind every carton of school milk is a long, often invisible chain of work — farmers caring for their cows in every kind of weather, processors ensuring quality and safety day after day, logistics teams delivering milk on time, and teachers and school staff who make it part of a child’s routine. That’s why this day isn’t only about milk — it’s about the people who make children’s nutrition better.
Ukraine’s dairy industry, despite all the challenges of recent years, remains part of this global tradition of caring for children. At UAdairy.org, we believe every school, every dairy processor, and every family making sure a child gets a proper breakfast deserves a heartfelt thank-you today.
Happy World School Milk Day! May every child — in Ukraine and around the world — have their glass of milk, a good mood, and the will to learn, every single day.
