According to the The Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, on February 25 a roundtable discussion titled “Strategic Development of the Dairy Sector of Ukraine: Challenges and Prospects” was held under the chairmanship of Oleksandr Haidu, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

Participants included Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotskyi, Member of Parliament Serhii Bunin, representatives of the Dairy Union of Ukraine and the Association of milk producers of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the Department for Combating Smuggling and Customs Violations of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, as well as executives from dairy companies including Dubnomoloko, Favor, Terra Food, and Pravio.

The discussion covered the current state of milk production and processing, domestic market conditions, and export prospects. A consultation draft of the Roadmap for integrating Ukraine’s dairy sector into the EU was presented, outlining harmonization of requirements, strengthening of food safety standards, and adaptation of the regulatory environment.

Special attention was given to combating dairy product adulteration and smuggling, which distort competition and affect pricing. Participants emphasized the need to strengthen quality control, including for products supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The attendees also highlighted the importance of supporting milk producers, particularly farms in frontline regions and relocated enterprises. Among the key priorities identified were improving relations between suppliers and retail chains, stimulating demand for domestically produced dairy products, and creating stable conditions for the development of dairy farming.
