According to MELKVEE, the EkoHolland cooperative left the farmgate price for organic milk unchanged in February at €69 per 100 kg, the same level as in January.
These prices are calculated based on an annual delivery volume of 750,000 kg of milk with 4.42% fat and 3.57% protein. They include quality and volume premiums but do not take into account possible program-related bonuses.
According to cooperative chairman René Kreisen, the Dutch organic dairy market is currently in a balanced state. Supply and demand are aligned, which leaves no grounds for price adjustments.
Sales of organic milk remain stable: available volumes are successfully marketed within various organic milk streams and brands. There are no signs of oversupply — on the contrary, in order to fulfill contracts the cooperative has to purchase additional organic milk domestically.
EkoHolland notes that the situation on the organic market differs significantly from the conventional milk segment, where prices largely depend on international market conditions. The organic sector is more oriented toward domestic demand, which ensures relative price stability.
At the same time, other market participants are also keeping prices largely unchanged. The overall trend indicates that organic milk is currently showing better price dynamics than conventional milk, and the market has sufficient capacity for existing production volumes.
