Agroexpert.md reports that representatives of the dairy sectors of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine held an official bilateral meeting, during which they identified key areas for cooperation. The main topics were European integration, the harmonisation of quality standards, and the expansion of trade links between the countries. The talks culminated in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, which lays a solid foundation for a long-term partnership in the dairy industry of both countries.

The parties will focus primarily on bringing national legislation and the relevant sector into line with the European Union’s stringent requirements. In addition, the priorities identified include supporting environmentally sound production and the introduction of modern milk processing technologies.

Oleg Leșcenco, Chairman of the Moldovan Association ‘LAPTE’ (National Association of Milk and Dairy Product Producers of the Republic of Moldova), noted that during the discussion, specific steps to be taken on the path to European integration had been agreed upon. According to him, the signed memorandum aims to strengthen economic and trade cooperation. This is to be achieved through the exchange of experience, advanced technologies, and best practices in the field of dairy farming and the production of dairy products.

Ukraine and Moldova have also agreed to jointly promote innovative projects, particularly those involving international technical assistance programmes. At the same time, cooperation will be strengthened at all levels: between farmers, processors, industry associations, and government bodies.

For his part, Arsen Didur, Executive Director of The Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, emphasised that the main aim of the partnership is to identify common interests and foster fair competition in the markets of both countries. He expressed the hope that, in the near future, there would be more Moldovan dairy products on the shelves of Ukrainian shops, and, conversely, more Ukrainian products in Moldova.

At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of both countries affirmed their shared commitment: all dairy products produced and traded between Ukraine and Moldova must unquestionably comply with European food quality and safety standards.
