GDT auction of 15 September: price index down 1.1%, while cheddar jumps 16.5%

At the 15 September 2026 event, the overall Global Dairy Trade price index fell 1.1%. Milk fats and mozzarella fell most, while cheddar rose sharply.

The Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (UDEU) has published the latest Global Dairy Trade (GDT) price dynamics as of 15 September 2026. The overall price index fell 1.1% to $3,868 per tonne.

Prices by product

Cheese was mixed: cheddar led the gains, jumping 16.5% to $4,075/t, while mozzarella fell the most of any product, −6.0% to $3,992/t. 

Milk fats stayed weak: anhydrous milk fat (AMF) fell 3.0% to $5,739/t and butter 5.7% to $4,760/t, in line with the ongoing global pressure on milk fat. 

Milk powders were little changed: skimmed milk powder (SMP) edged up 0.1% to $3,689/t, while whole milk powder (WMP) slipped 0.8% to $3,565/t.
