The Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office presents a study of Kazakhstan’s dairy market.
Analysts assessed the current state and trade trends of the country’s dairy sector. Kazakhstan continues to remain a net importer of dairy products due to an insufficient domestic raw material base. In 2024, imports in this category reached USD 443 million, with the largest shares accounted for by cheese, condensed milk, cream, and fermented dairy products.
Key findings for business:
- about 50% of household expenditures are spent on food and beverages;
- average annual household spending in the “milk, cheese and eggs” category amounts to $1,914;
- demand is growing for high-quality and premium dairy products: lactose-free, high-protein, without added sugar, and minimally processed.
The combination of import dependence and changing consumer preferences creates promising opportunities for Ukrainian dairy producers in the Kazakh market.
